We are currently investigating your possible requirements for the fold-up cardboard boxes used for displaying, transporting and storing individual minerals, gems and fossils.

The reason for this is that I am considering making an injection moulding tool to make these in plastic. If we decide to go ahead with the moulding tool, the new boxes will be made to fit tightly into the standard cardboard flats currently in use.

There would be several benefits with these new boxes.

Benefits:

1. The current price would be about the same.
2. They would be more durable.
3. They could be made in different colours.
4. You would not have to fold them.
5. You may adhere specimens to them.
6. They will look neater than the folded boxes as folded boxes tend to crease on the fold line and can look untidy.
7. Labeling specimens could be easier.
8. Can also be used as specimen mounts.

Possible Disadvantages:

1. They take up more storage room when empty.

2. If you can think of any other disadvantages that may arise, please let me know.

If you are a user of the fold-up cardboard boxes, I would be grateful if you can spare the time to forward me some information as follows.

1. What size boxes do you use? Please list all sizes.

2. How many of each size would you use annually? Approximately.

3. How deep do you prefer the boxes to be? eg. 37 mm x 37mm x 17 mm

4. What sort of finish would you like to see on the box?

5. What quantity do you buy of each size at a time?
