Fossickers Guide

Crystal Universe Prehnite

For your convenience, we have set up a form to gather information on your requirements for, and interest in, materials from the Wave Hill area of Northern Territory.

The form will provide us with details in order for us to contact you once mining operations have commenced. We are mainly interested in gauging the demand for the prehnite but would also appreciate comments on other materials available from the area and finished products.

The information gathered will act as a guide only as to international demands for the gems and minerals.

Your input is valuable, even if you are not a trader, and we would be grateful if you will forward any URL's or email contacts of any possible interested buyers and gemstone processors.

If you recommend a buyer, we will negotiate to pay you a commission based on volumes sold to that buyer.

Thank you for your participation.

Prehnite from Wave Hill, Northern Territory is the finest prehnite in the world. This fine prehnite will soon be available commercially on the international market.

Prehnite was discovered in the Wave Hill area of Northern Territory many years ago and. During the 1960's several local fossickers sold quantities of low to medium grade material to dealers in Victoria. These first shipments of prehnite were sent to Germany for carving and then nothing more was mined after the early shipments.

During the 1970's, Gearld Pauley had the good fortune to gain permission to access old mines reports at the Bureau of Mineral Resources in Darwin, prior to it being blown away by Cyclone 'Tracey'.

On the first trip to Wave Hill, he realised the potential of the area to produce fine quality prehnite but also identified other gem and mineral reserves of economic significance.

He first discovered the deposit of high quality gem grade prehnite in 1982 and for the next few years prospected the area and finally obtained mining tenements. After extensive work on materials retrieved from the Exploration Licenses, he realised the potential of the material for gem processing into ornamental works and semi-precious gems. Prehnite, at that time was regarded as a rare 'precious' gem.

From late 2000, we have been involved in negotiations with various associates and contacts throughout the world in order to commence working the deposit commercially. Current material on the market is either scavenged from the surface or illegally extracted and processors are not able to gain continuity of supply. The deposits are currently held under Exploration Licenses with a view to future large scale mining in specific areas.

A number of reputable dealers have expressed interest in purchasing large quantities of raw material for processing and, at this point in time, we will be examining the possibility of doing major exploratory work on this deposit, hopefully, later this year.

Companies interested in purchasing large quantities of prehnite, for processing, are invited to write to us stating expressions of interest in the material, specifically prehnite, at: sales@openallday.au.com

There are many colours and qualities of material as can be seen from the photographs (below). Our initial aim is to thoroughly examine the potential of the reserve and, if successful, we will initially offer the material in three or four price categories for bulk material.

If you are interested in obtaining continuity of supply of this beautiful material, please let us know where you are from (country), what annual volumes you would consider buying and also the frequency of ordering.

Known reserves are currently held under current Exploration Licenses or Applications.

Other gems and minerals may also be available and photographs of these may also be viewed below.

For further information write to Gerald Pauley: sales@openallday.au.com

N.B. If successful, during the first year of operation there will only be limited supplies of prehnite available for test production. Be sure to let us know early if this material is of interest to you.

AGATE ON SMOKY QUARTZ
