We are currently examining the viability of establishing a mining venture in the Wave Hill area of Northern Territory for the gemstone, prehnite, and other associated gems and minerals. The information we gather is important for us to gauge your rough gemstone requirements. A form is provided at the bottom of this page.
Prehnite any be in solid nodules completely free from basalt, but, when polished the true beauty and clarity may be revealed.
In this case the prehnite has impregnated the basal but the basalt also takes a very high polish and this type of material make exquisite carvings. When polished the true beauty and clarity may be revealed.

PREHNITE Wave Hill, Northern Territory, Australia
Vast quantities of prehnite nodules are scattered over the surface. When polished the true beauty and clarity may be revealed. A clearer piece of prehnite may be view by clicking link. EXTRA CLARITY
This piece is of good colour but is not suitably clear for faceting. The brown material in the specimen is basalt with prehnite impregnation.
AMETHYST Wave Hill, Northern Territory, Australia
Amethyst is also found adjacent to the prehnite and agates. Crystals such s this are found in geodes.
Amethyst from another area occurs in geodes with pseudomorphs coating the crystal points.
AGATE Wave Hill, Northern Territory, Australia
Wave Hill agates have some interesting floating agate centres. They may also have inclusions of other minerals.
This is a most unusual specimen found whilst prospecting in the area in 1982. The unusual nature of the agate deposition on the surface of the crystals questions the agate formation theory. Many other unusual pseudomorphs have also been found in the area.
